Despite being one of the text-messaging generation, I am irked when I see ‘baited’ over ‘bated’. It’s almost as bad as the wanton exchange of ‘effect’ over ‘affect.’

This is too funny. It’s just like the internal iPod speaker, which makes nary a noise but that scrolling click (or if you’re adventerous a startling little squawk in devmode).

The two buttons (FINALLY), touch sensitivity, and the scroll ball are all decent additions. (wouldn’t quite call the scroll ball an innovation seeing as the whole “scroll from mouse” idea was borrowed from Microsoft). I wonder, though, how effective a ball is versus a tiltable wheel you can hold down, seeing as fingers tend to be much longer than wide.

The only criticism I would mention is that customization is only available under Tiger. This is the Safari 10.2->10.3 fiasco all over again. It seems forced obsolescence is worth the negative PR for Apple. As much as I love Apple’s design this is up there in the list of most irritating things a company can do to its loyal users. There is absolutely no reason why Apple couldn’t have supported older versions of Mac OS X. Cue an upstart shareware developer?

Wednesday night last week was the most fun I’ve had in the movies for a long time. I’m so glad I had the chance to see Episode 3 the night it came out; it will exceed the nerd quotient for long time.

Females? I can count them on one hand. Of course there is Padmé (1); there had to be a Skywalker mom after all. Female Jedis? There was a blue Twi’lek with crazy head tails (2) who died in the same scene she is first seen in. Then there were Beru Lars (3) and Leia’s mother, Bail Organa’s wife (4) – they got to hold some babies, how becoming.

Its like the emp says “yeah, so you’re bad now” and anakin is like “sweet! i can slice me up some little kids!”

The other amazing parts were when yoda saw chewbacca, and when R2-D2 and C3-P0 were together for a good portion – but had their memories erased right before the end. Convenient. Where “convienent” = cop-out. I guess they had to include the old school characters after the utter lambasting Episode 1 got by the critics.

This is reading a little harsh for a “review”. The movie certainly was a good time, and nicely wraps the two trilogies together. Even though you know Anakin has to become all evil and heavy with the breathing, it’s like Titanic – people want to see it anyway.

Prepped out golfers livin it badder than Easy E? Definitely choice.

Not to play second fiddle to tech news sites but this one is really cool. Google Maps just integrated Keyhole’s satellite images, so you can search for a place and see a real photograph of the place from 5,000 feet. Google bought Keyhole last October.

Here’s where I’m living right now at RIT. Reading headlines off newspapers will remain exclusively for the CIA, but what we get (for free) is really cool.

Not to pull a Bush and forget about the rest of the world …a world-wide already existing alternative is right here.

too funny

So tonight ethan’s friend from somethingawful.com ‘s forums forwarded him a copy of paris hilton’s hacked Tmobile sidekick address book, personal notes, and pictures (!). Needless to say…someone who shall remain nameless had a wonderful time dialing every single celebrity in the book. Unfortunately most of their mailboxes were full…but there were a bunch of scandalous pictures of ms. Hilton..

almost all of the numbers were real, but their mailboxes were full. sad. but we covered a lot of ground dialing the hollywood rite-aid in ms. hiltons address book. score! a real person picked up.

later we did get ashlee simpson’s bodyguard…

body guard: “hello, who is this?”
b.p.: “hey this is bp, whos this?”
bg: “ummm…i don’t know any b.p.”
b.p: “i was just where you are”
bg: “…thats impossible”
b.p.: “…i know…sorry.”
